And the Constitution of India protects its citizens through fundamental rights. Under the circumstances, the private detective has to devise a methodology to collect information. Physical surveillance from inconspicuous locations is to be done without interfering with the rights of citizen. Individuals are to be interviewed (not questioned or grilled) for pumping out information.
Public records are also store house of informations. Procedures and provisions are in place to have access to them. In nutshell, the investigator is required to invent a methodology to ferret out records, information and secrets from public and private sources by side stepping common pitfalls. And to “find” scarce resources the private investigator must have fundamental level of investigative knowledge and his skills are to be sharpened. These include imparting knowledge of rules and regulations, where and how to obtain information, how to properly gather and document evidence, how to interview persons and how to properly report the results of investigations. Then again, the finding must be adducible in evidence in a court of law. Indian evidence Act contains provisions and also restricts admissibility of such evidence.The detective training institute must have a course curriculum and a programme to specifically address these vital matters with rock-solid and up-to-date advice and training.
